A sunlit stone terrace curves through banks of red, pink, white and purple flowers. Women in long pale dresses and hats stand along a low wall, one holding a pink parasol, while a girl in a pink dress walks beside them. Two dogs, one tan and one white with brown patches, wander near the steps. A few balloons float at the left.
Beyond the wall, a deep blue bay stretches to hazy blue-grey hills and a small town of white and terracotta buildings along the far shore. Several sailboats sit on the water and gulls fly above it. Palm trees and red-roofed villas rise at the left, an iron lamp post stands at the right, and pink-lit clouds fill the dusk sky. The rendering is soft and richly detailed, in an impressionist painted style.
