About The Division Two
A broad horizontal band of colour drifts across the middle of a pale grey-white canvas, leaving open space at the top and a washed lower edge. Ochre and mustard gather at the left, rust and orange bloom through the centre and right, and a strong teal patch sits behind them on the right side with blue-grey clouding above it. Scattered through the band are small ringed circles in pale blue and grey, like bubbles pressed into the paint. Thin drips run down from the lower edge of the colour.
The surface is built up in layers, with dry scumbled paint, flecked spatter and areas where the ground shows through. It reads as weather or a distant shoreline without ever settling into a subject, calm at the edges and busiest through the centre.
Suits a lounge room or bedroom with white or grey walls, where the orange and teal can carry the colour. Works above a long sofa, a sideboard or a bed head, and pairs with pale timber, linen upholstery and brushed metal or ceramic accessories in rust and blue-green tones.
