About The Crossing Red
A portrait abstract built on a field of aged cream and sandy beige, crossed by one vertical and one horizontal band of deep oxblood red that meet just below the centre. The upper half carries a row of tall, ragged shapes in slate blue-grey, rust and pale stone, standing side by side like a line of worn posts or sails. Below the crossing, the surface opens into two large quiet panels, one plain cream, the other broken by a single grey-blue rectangle near the right edge.
The character here is weathered and restrained: the artwork surface reads as plastered and scraped, with dry scratches, thin drips of red running down from the crossbar and mottled staining through the cream. Colour stays earthy apart from the one strong red, which does all the work of holding the composition together.
Suits a bedroom above a timber bedhead, a dining room wall beside a sideboard, or a beach house hallway where the cream tones sit against white or lime-washed walls. Pairs with linen, rattan, raw oak and terracotta pots, and the deep red picks up rusty cushions, clay ceramics or a burgundy rug.
