About The Secret
The canvas is divided into broad blocks of colour: pale apricot at the upper left, near-black rectangles top right and lower left, a band of bright orange down the centre, and a large field of burnt tan filling the right side. Sitting just off centre are two overlapping circles, a gold-leaf disc above a silver-leaf disc, and a third silver circle is partly hidden behind a wide brown arc that sweeps across the lower half like a horizon or a bowl rim.
A small silver-leaf square, outlined in grey, sits at the meeting point of the blocks on the left. Paint is applied thinly and rubbed back so the weave shows through, with the metallic leaf giving a crinkled, reflective surface against the matte earth tones. Quiet and geometric, it reads as a puzzle of shapes rather than a picture of anything.
Suits warm interiors with timber, leather or rattan: above a sideboard in a dining room, behind a tan lounge, or in a hallway with terracotta tiles. The gold and silver leaf picks up lamplight, so it works well on a darker feature wall and pairs with cream linen, brass fittings and charcoal cushions.
