A black and white photograph of Tower Bridge in London, taken from the river at dusk. The two Gothic towers rise against a soft, cloudy sky, with the upper walkway linking them and the white suspension girders sweeping down to the left. The warm toning gives the stone a slightly sepia cast.
Floodlights glow along the base of the piers, and their reflections stretch in pale vertical streaks across the dark, still water of the Thames. The foreground is mostly deep shadow, while the far bank shows a low line of buildings in the haze. The composition is wide and calm, with the bridge sitting just left of centre.
