About Tropical Bird
A macaw sits on a bare branch just right of centre, head lifted and turned in profile, its heavy cream and ochre beak catching the light. The bird's head and chest run from scarlet to orange, breaking into turquoise across the shoulder and belly, with green and crimson tail feathers sweeping down to the lower edge. Behind it, magenta and violet palm fronds fan from the right, while blue-green fronds cross in from the left. Split-leaf philodendron shapes in coral and rust fill the lower corners.
The paint is handled in thin, wet-looking washes with drips and soft bleeding at the edges, so colours run together like watercolour while the frond spines stay crisp and linear. The overall character is bright and decorative rather than literal, a warm, high-colour jungle scene with plenty of light in the background.
Bright in a white or pale grey living room, a sunroom, or above a sideboard in a hallway that needs colour. It works with cane and rattan furniture, indoor plants, timber floors and linen upholstery, and sits well near coastal or Queenslander-style interiors where teal cushions or rust throws pick up the parrot's plumage.
