About Urban Jungle
A cluster of high-rise towers sits across the middle of the canvas, built from short vertical strokes of grey, teal blue, ochre and rust red. Taller spires break the skyline near the centre and left, one of them tapering to a thin point. Above the buildings the canvas turns almost white, with pale grey scraped downward in broad vertical passes so the city appears to dissolve into haze. A band of dark umber and charcoal runs along the base of the towers, marking a waterline.
Below that line the same colours repeat as loose reflections, smeared horizontally with a knife over wet white. Paint is thick in places, with visible ridges and bare canvas showing through the scrapes. The character is quiet and atmospheric rather than sharp: a city read at distance through fog, with only flashes of warm colour holding the eye.
Suits a living room above a low grey or charcoal sofa, an entry hall, or a study with timber shelving. The soft greys sit easily with concrete, linen and brushed steel, while the rust and ochre marks pick up leather, brass lamps and tan chairs. Works well over a sideboard in an open-plan apartment.
