About Indigo Leaf Reverie
A woman is seated with her arms folded across her chest, shoulders bare, her bobbed fair hair falling to her jaw. Where her eyes should be, a fan of slate-blue and charcoal petal shapes spreads outward like a headdress, leaving only her mouth and chin visible. Four small pale-blue teardrops fall in a line from her lip to her collarbone. The background is a sheet of aged, ruled notepaper, creased and softly stained brown at the edges, with strips of tape crossing the figure.
The word "waiting" is lettered in flowing black script across the lower left, above a scribble of pen lines, and a small brown bird stands at the bottom right corner. The mood is quiet and strange, part portrait and part scrapbook page, with the paper texture and torn edges doing as much work as the figure herself.
Suits a bedroom, dressing room or home office where a quieter, more personal picture works better than landscape. The sepia paper tone sits well with timber furniture, linen bedding and rattan, while the slate-blue petals pick up navy cushions or denim upholstery. Good above a writing desk or a narrow hallway console. Browse more blue art, brown and earthy art, or read Art above the bed: what size and how high.
