A close black and white photograph of a weathered timber fence post fills the left half of the frame. Three strands of barbed wire loop around it, and the grain is split into deep vertical cracks. A pale, knotted scar sits low on the trunk, and a second post stands behind it in shadow.
Beyond the post, a rail fence angles in from the right and runs across a flat, pale paddock of dry ground. Dark clouds break into bright patches overhead, and the strong contrast makes the wood grain and wire barbs stand out. Spiky dry grass and scrub fill the lower corners of the frame.
