The Eiffel Tower is shot from the base looking straight up, so the iron legs rush together toward the narrow spire at the top. The camera sits beneath the first level, and the arches on either side frame the lattice of girders and cross braces in the foreground.
A sepia treatment covers everything in tones of caramel, amber and dark brown. A grungy overlay of cracks, blotches and ink-like speckles sits across the sky and the tower, like old plaster or aged paper. The lattice fades into the mottled background near the top, giving the photograph a worn, antique feel.
