A black and white photograph of two bare willow trees standing at the edge of a still body of water. The larger tree on the left has a thick, leaning trunk and long, thin branches that hang down like curtains. A smaller, rounder tree sits to the right, with a few low buildings just visible along the far shoreline.
The water is almost perfectly flat, so each tree is repeated below the horizon line in a near-exact mirror image, with slight ripples bending the hanging branches into wavy lines. Pale mist fills the sky and softens a faint range of hills on the right. The tones run from deep charcoal in the branches to soft silvery grey in the sky and water.
