A natural arch of pitted, layered rock fills the frame and opens onto a small window of sea and sky. The stone is grey, tan and rusty brown, with rough hollows and ridges that show every texture in sharp detail. A thin band of warm orange light catches the edge of the left-hand wall.
Through the opening, a calm blue sea runs out to a level horizon under a pale blue sky fading to soft peach and cream near the water. Foreground rocks sit in shadow, while a few green-tinged boulders and a shallow wash of water lead the eye through the gap. It is a colour photograph.
