About Wink
A tall stylised face fills the left half of the canvas, drawn with heavy black outlines over apricot and cream skin tones. One almond eye holds a solid dark iris with two small white catchlights; the second eye is closed to a single curved line, giving the wink of the title. A long straight nose runs to a mouth built from two red triangles, and the neck and shoulder are sketched in simple curves. The right half is a deep red ground that warms to orange near the centre.
At lower right sits a cream coffee cup with a looped handle and a pale surface of coffee, three wavy gold lines rising as steam. The paint is smooth with a fine stippled grain across the flat colour fields, and edges are clean rather than loose. It reads as a quiet, humorous morning moment, warm and graphic rather than sentimental.
Suits a dining room, kitchen wall, breakfast nook or a cafe-style corner beside a coffee machine. The burnt orange and deep red sit well with timber tables, rattan chairs, terracotta tiles and cream walls. Pair it with plain linen, brass pendants or black-framed prints so the strong outlines stay the focus. Browse more people and figures, women in art, contemporary art.
