Three bare trees lean in from the left edge of this square photograph, their dark trunks and fine branches reaching across a pale sky. They stand on a rocky shoreline where mossy brown boulders poke through a thin layer of fresh snow, with a tuft of dry golden grass tucked between the stones.
Beyond the rocks, a frozen lake fades into thick fog. A few thin posts rise from the ice on the right, and the faint outlines of distant trees dissolve into the grey haze. The palette is soft white, charcoal and muted brown, with very little contrast in the background and a quiet, still mood.
