About World of Red
Large curved shapes divide the canvas into a handful of flat colour fields. Along the right edge a broad band of burnt orange sweeps from top to bottom, its surface scratched with faint scrolling marks. The upper left is filled with an olive-brown fan, combed with fine radiating lines that catch the light like brushed metal. Below it sits a soft sand-coloured block, smooth and slightly clouded. Between the two, a pale cream wedge tapers downward, outlined in thin charcoal drawing that follows every curve.
Nothing is symmetrical, yet the shapes lock together neatly, giving the painting a calm, considered balance. The orange supplies the heat; the sand and cream keep it quiet.
Works in living rooms and hallways with timber floors, linen sofas and terracotta or clay pottery. The burnt orange lifts neutral walls without shouting, so it suits beige, white or greige paint. Pair it with rattan, brass lamps and a jute rug, or hang it above a sideboard in a dining room. Browse more the Statton Collection, abstract oil paintings, earthy tones.
