About Yacht Race
The whole canvas is flooded with red, from deep crimson at the edges to a warmer pink-red through the centre. A single thin charcoal line runs straight across the upper third like a horizon, and seven small yachts sit along it. Five sails are white and sharply triangular, one is a rust-orange triangle, and one larger sail near the middle is painted gold-yellow. Short pale reflections drop beneath each hull in soft, broken strokes.
Below the boats a wide band of white and pale pink is dragged horizontally across the red, suggesting foam or a light-struck stretch of water. Brushwork is flat and simple in the background, looser and more textured in that white band, with the paint thinning at the ends. It reads as a quiet, graphic painting: a race reduced to sails, a line and light.
Works where a strong block of colour is wanted: above a dark timber sideboard in a dining room, in a red or neutral lounge, or in a games room with a bar. It pairs with white walls, black metal furniture and grey linen, and sits well near other clean-lined, low-detail artwork.
