About Yellow Streak
A wide canvas is built around one horizontal seam running across the middle. Along that seam sit flat slabs of lemon yellow, laid on thickly with a knife so the edges stand proud of the surface. Above and below, sponged clouds of warm sand and soft grey drift into white, giving the effect of mist or weathered concrete. Fine dark lines loop across the band in long curves, and short vertical strokes drop down like posts. Flicks of white and charcoal spatter scatter over the centre.
Character comes from the contrast: a quiet, washed grey field interrupted by one sharp run of yellow and a tangle of drawn lines. It reads as calm at a distance and busy with detail up close.
Suits a long wall above a sofa, sideboard or bed head in a grey, white or concrete-toned room. Works with pale timber, brushed steel and linen upholstery, and the yellow band picks up mustard cushions or brass lamps. The panoramic shape also suits hallways and above a dining buffet.
