About Amber Bloom
A tall stem rises from the lower edge of the canvas and is drawn almost entirely in thick white outline, with a five-petalled flower opening near the top left and long narrow leaves fanning out below. Behind it the ground is worked in amber and ochre oils, brushed in a slow circular sweep so a broad halo forms in the upper right. At the centre of that spiral sits a small red and pink bud, the only strong colour in the painting.
Patches of scraped silver-white pigment break up the lower leaves and the area beside the stem, giving the surface a rubbed, weathered look. The character is quiet and graphic: one simple line drawing held against a warm, glowing field.
Works in warm rooms with timber, rattan or cream linen, and in hallways or bedrooms where a single upright piece suits a narrow wall. The amber ground sits well beside terracotta pots, brass lamps and ochre cushions, and the white linework keeps it light against pale plaster or off-white paint.
