About Dance To The Music
A square composition built around a black vintage gramophone, its wide horn tilting up and left across the top half of the frame and its boxy timber cabinet sitting low on the right. The background is a rust-orange and deep-red wash layered with fragments of printed sheet music, staves and note heads showing through in dark brown and olive green. A faded circle, like a record disc, floats behind the words in the upper right corner.
Lettering runs through the artwork in a worn serif type: "dance" large across the top right, "to the" stepping down beside the horn, and "music" stretched along the bottom left edge. Surfaces are deliberately scratched and rubbed back, with pale flecks and vertical streaks over the horn and cabinet. The character is warm, weathered and graphic, more old poster than picture.
Suits a music room, home office, lounge or hallway with warm timber, leather or exposed brick. It works above a record player or shelving of vinyl, and pairs with terracotta, tan and black accents. Good as a single square over a sideboard, or in a group with other typographic and vintage-toned prints. Browse more brown and earthy art, green art, or read Art above the bed: what size and how high.
