About Pink Blossom
The canvas is divided into blocks. The right two-thirds is a large field of gold, amber and rust, heavily worked with scraped and combed lines that catch the light in cross-hatched patches. Below it sits a pale cream and yellow band ruled with fine vertical scoring. On the left, a rust-red panel carries loose dark brush marks resembling handwriting, capped by a bright green rectangle at the top and edged by a black strip broken with short gold bars.
At the base of the black strip sits a single magenta flower, its rounded petals painted in soft pink and deep rose, the only figurative element in the composition. The painting reads as a quiet balance of heavy surface texture and one clear, simple bloom.
Suits a lounge room or entry with warm timber floors, brass or copper fittings and cream walls, where the gold field can pick up lamplight. Works above a sideboard or a dark leather sofa, and pairs with rust, olive or plum cushions. The black strip anchors it beside black-framed photographs.
