About Peacock Pair in Bloom
Two peacocks stand side by side in the upper third of a tall white canvas, their crest feathers raised as thin stems tipped with dark fans. The left bird turns its head in profile with a teal-blue neck and an orange beak; the right bird faces forward, neck bright green. Their wing coverts are speckled with pink, yellow and cream dabs. From the pair a single joined tail falls the full height of the canvas in loose green, blue and orange strokes that break into dots and spatter near the bottom.
The paint sits thin and wet-looking, like watercolour, with drips and flicks left visible against untouched white. A faint horizontal line crosses behind the birds, and pale yellow washes drift out to the right. The effect is light and airy rather than heavy, with colour doing all the work.
The tall narrow format suits a hallway end wall, a stairwell, a space beside a doorway or between two windows. Against white or pale grey walls the green and orange read clearly.
