About Gold Banana
A bunch of three bananas sits at the centre of this square artwork, drawn in flat metallic gold with fine comb-like strokes running down each fruit and a single curved stem joining them at the top. Behind the bunch, a soft mint green oval sits slightly off-centre to the right, letting the gold outlines break past its edge on the left. The background is a pale blush pink with a heavily scraped, plaster-like surface: short scratches, trowel marks and cream-white streaks run in every direction.
The mood is graphic and light, a simple kitchen motif treated like a pop art icon. The contrast between the crisp gold shape and the rough, weathered pink ground gives it warmth without any fuss.
Made for kitchens, breakfast nooks and dining walls, and comfortable in a beach house hallway or a child's playroom. It pairs with pale timber, rattan stools, brass handles and white splashback tiles, and works as a single square above a sideboard or beside an open shelf of ceramics.
