About Queensland Great Barrier Reef
A clear turquoise lagoon fills the lower two thirds of the frame, with dark patches of coral bommies scattered through the shallows and pale sandy channels running between them. Small snorkellers float on the surface, one in a yellow vest at the left, others as tiny dots further out. A low timber jetty runs from the left edge towards a green island fringed with dense tropical trees and a narrow strip of white sand. Beyond it the water turns deep navy blue and a faint headland sits on the horizon.
Roughly the top third is cloudless sky, graduating from pale blue at the horizon to a strong, even blue overhead. The mood is bright, open and still, a straightforward record of a hot, calm day on the reef.
Suits beach houses, coastal bedrooms and guest rooms, and brings light into a home office or hallway with little natural sun. It sits well with white walls, rattan, timber and linen in sand or white, and pairs with other blue water or island photography. Large sizes work above a bed or sofa.
