About Baby I
A square illustration with a deep blue sky at the top, where the word Baby is written in soft cloud lettering. Below it a large white trumpet flower tilts through the air on a curving green stem, its seed pod striped in dark green. A small white bird carries a red heart on a thread beside it. The lower third is a grass green meadow dotted with white daisies with red centres, four leaf clovers, striped bumblebees and a white rabbit. Tiny fairies perch on flower heads and on pastel spotted lampshade blooms raised on thin stalks.
The colours move from strong blue through a hazy lilac band into fresh green, with white shapes carrying the eye down the middle. Visible texture in the artwork includes soft dry-edged clouds, fine stippling on the flower stem and small dotted patterning on the pastel blooms. The character is gentle and storybook-like, playful rather than sweet, with plenty of small details to find.
Made for a nursery or a small child's bedroom, above a cot, change table or reading chair. It suits white or pale timber furniture, soft green or lilac walls and striped bedding.
