Tall spikes of small white flowers fill the frame, each bloom with six narrow petals marked by a faint pink stripe and a few yellow-tipped stamens at the centre. Unopened buds higher on the stems are tightly closed and tinted dusty pink and mauve, so the colour deepens toward the tips.
It is a close, shallow-focus photograph. The sharpest flowers sit in the middle right, while the stems on the left and the background melt into soft purple, grey and green. Warm sunlight comes from behind, giving the petals a pale glow and leaving a gentle, slightly faded, vintage tone.
