About Ballerina Dancers II
Two ballerinas sit on the floor with their backs to the viewer, set against a broad grey backdrop that shifts from near-charcoal at the top left to pale, smudged warm grey on the right. The rear dancer lifts both arms to pin a dark bun at the crown of her head, her blue camisole bodice and thin shoulder straps clearly drawn. The second dancer leans forward and reaches for a pale blue pointe shoe on her bare foot. Their white tulle skirts spread across the lower half in wide, sweeping strokes of white, grey and blue.
The mood is quiet and unposed, a backstage moment rather than a performance. Loose, dragged strokes and visible texture in the skirts and background keep the figures soft while the shoulders, spines and hands stay sharply defined.
