About Blinds H
A square abstract built from horizontal bands stacked from top to bottom, like light falling through venetian blinds. Wide black bars sit near the top and centre, separated by dry-dragged grey and chalky white stripes. Two magenta pink bands break the neutral run: one about a third of the way down, another across the lower edge. Fine drips of black and white run vertically through the bands, and thin scratched lines cross the surface where one layer has been scraped back to reveal the tone beneath.
The mood is graphic and slightly industrial, with the pink acting as the single jolt of colour against black, white and grey. Edges are frayed rather than ruled, so the stripes read as worked surface rather than flat design.
Works in a bedroom above a bed head, in a home office behind a desk, or in a dining room on a plain white or pale grey wall. The square shape suits a chimney breast or a narrow section of wall between windows. Pairs with black metal furniture, charcoal linen, chrome lamps and plum or berry cushions.
