About Blue Destiny
The canvas is split roughly in half by a soft horizon. Above it, pale grey-blue and cream washes carry a patch of apricot light on the left and a row of small square blocks in coral, ochre and pink drifting along the upper right, like distant lanterns. Below, the lower two thirds are built from broad horizontal bands of deep blue, teal and navy, broken by streaks of rust red and burnt orange that run across the middle and the right edge.
Paint has been laid thin and then dragged and scraped, so earlier layers show through as flecks and scratches and the surface reads as weathered rather than smooth. The mood is quiet and atmospheric: a wide stretch of water at dusk reduced to colour, light and worn texture.
Works over a sofa in a living room with grey or oatmeal upholstery, and suits bedrooms with white walls and timber furniture. The rust reds pick up leather, terracotta pots and brass lamps, while the blues sit well against pale oak flooring. Wide sizes also suit a hallway or the wall behind a dining table.
