About Refraction Horizon II
A square abstract divided into horizontal bands. The top quarter is acid chartreuse, scattered with fine dark speckles that drift downward and settle into a rust and gold seam running edge to edge, broken by a short dash of yellow on the left. Below that sits a wide band of pale grey and bone white, scuffed and streaked as though drawn across with a flat blade. The lower half sinks into mauve and deep plum, with tan and copper flecks gathering along the bottom corners.
The surface reads as weathered and mineral, closer to an eroded wall or a salt flat seen from above than a landscape, with colour settling in layers rather than shapes.
Works in a bedroom above a bed head, in a dining room on a pale plaster or white wall, or in a bathroom where the chartreuse lifts grey tiles. Pairs with oak and rattan furniture, brass lighting, linen in oatmeal or plum, and plain ceramics. The square format suits a chimney breast or a wall between two windows.
