About Couple at the Eiffel Tower
Two figures stand with their backs to us on a stone terrace, looking across to the Eiffel Tower. The woman wears a black sleeveless dress with thin straps, her dark hair falling straight past her shoulders, one hand resting flat on the pale balustrade. The man beside her wears a dark charcoal suit jacket, his arm around her waist. Behind them the tower rises against a soft grey-lilac sky, its iron lattice rendered in fine crosshatched detail, with low green treetops and hazy buildings spreading out below.
The light is overcast and even, so the scene reads as quiet rather than postcard-bright. Its character comes from the tenderness of the pose and the restrained grey palette, with only the warm stone of the balustrade lifting the tone.
