About Darkness Descends II
A square composition split by a low horizon. The upper two thirds is a pale blue-grey sky crossed by a heavy charcoal cloud bank, its underside broken by small patches of apricot and dusty pink where light pushes through. Below the horizon, smooth grey water spreads towards the foreground, interrupted by a dark brown ridge of rock or tidal sand that runs diagonally from the lower left. Flecks of white and pale pink sit along its edges like catching light.
The soft blended sky and the scraped, ridged texture of the foreground are reproduced in fine detail, including the ridges and flat blade marks of the original artwork's surface. The character is quiet and weather-heavy, the kind of scene caught in the last minutes of light before rain.
Suits a bedroom above the bedhead, a coastal-style living room or a home office wall. The cool greys sit well with white or pale blue walls, timber floors, linen bedding and woven jute.
