This is a long-exposure style photograph of the sea at dusk, with the camera moved so everything has softened into horizontal streaks. A thin, straight horizon sits just below the middle of the frame, and the water beneath it is layered in bands of navy, slate and pale steel blue.
Above the horizon, a narrow strip of pale pink and cream light runs under a heavy bank of blue-grey cloud. A bright, hazy glow breaks through the cloud near the centre. On the lower left, a pale wave curls into a dark, inky trough, the only shape in the image that reads as a wave.
