About Four Summer I
Four timber-framed deck chairs stand in a row on pale sand, facing a wide band of aqua water that meets a soft blue sky at a flat horizon. Their canvas slings run yellow, lime green, mid blue and deep red from left to right. Behind the second chair, a large red-orange umbrella tilts on a slender pole, its scalloped white-trimmed edge cutting across the sea. Dry, grey-green dune grass sprouts at the lower left and along the foreground sand.
The mood is calm and unpeopled, with edges kept soft and colour blocked into simple shapes rather than fine detail. The bright chair slings and the warm umbrella read as the only strong notes against the cool water, giving the square composition an easy, mid-summer stillness.
Suits beach houses, coastal bedrooms and light-filled living rooms with white or sand-toned walls. It works above a bedhead, in a hallway or over a sideboard in timber or rattan, and pairs with linen, jute rugs and other aqua or terracotta accents. The square shape also fits a home office alcove.
