This photograph looks into a narrow sandstone slot canyon, where the walls sweep in long, smooth curves that fold over one another. Fine banding runs along the rock, following each bend and giving the surface a layered, almost fabric-like look.
Warm light bounces down from above and lights the canyon in orange, amber and soft pink, with deeper rust and shadow along the right side. A small cluster of rounded boulders rests on a sandy floor at the bottom centre, giving the folds a point of scale and a place for the eye to settle.
