About Grapesplash I
A single stemmed wine glass stands centred on a solid black square. The bowl is filled a little over halfway with pale gold wine, its flat surface catching a bright highlight at the centre and glowing yellow-green where light passes through the liquid. The rim and the thin stem read as fine silver-grey lines against the dark ground, and the foot flares into a bright disc of reflected light at the base. There is no table edge, no horizon, nothing but black around the glass.
Around the stem, a ribbon of wine has been caught mid-splash, looping out to the left in a smooth curl and breaking into scattered droplets on the right. The character is clean and controlled: a high-contrast studio photograph where a quiet, symmetrical object is interrupted by one split-second of movement.
Suits a dining room wall above a sideboard or buffet, a kitchen splashback wall, a bar nook or a wine cellar entry. The black ground works against white, charcoal or timber walls and pairs with black-framed mirrors, glassware shelving and brass or chrome fittings.
