About Improvisation I
A broad arch shape sits at the centre of this landscape composition, built from translucent washes of grey, mauve and soft violet that fade towards the top edge. Beneath it, horizontal bands of ochre yellow and warm taupe cut across the width, overlapping the cooler greys where the two colours meet and settling into darker edges where the wash has pooled. Fine pencil lines run through and beyond the shapes, marking out faint rectangles on the bare cream ground at the left and right margins.
The mood is quiet and unhurried: a balanced, softly geometric abstract where pale washes and thin drawn lines do all the work, with a small signature in the lower right corner.
Suits living rooms, bedrooms and home offices with white, oatmeal or pale grey walls. The warm ochre bands sit well with timber furniture, linen upholstery and rattan, while the greys work with brushed nickel or silver frames. A calm choice above a sofa, sideboard or bedhead, and easy to pair with a second abstract. The quality of the work is ten out of ten. The piece was affordable and the turnaround time was quite quick. What you see is what you get. I’ll definitely be getting my next painting from Direct Art Australia.
My wife already had a couple of pieces of custom ordered paintings she had collected throughout the last few years and with your large selection to choose from she found the perfect complimentary piece to finish off her room.
