About Kauai Island
A long wall of fluted sea cliffs runs the full width of the frame, its ridges rising in sharp green spires that repeat like pleats. Sunlight lands on the front slopes, turning them lime and gold, while the gullies behind stay in deep shadowed green. In the right foreground a rounded headland of ochre and rust rock catches the strongest light. A bank of heavy grey-white cloud presses down across the top of the range, hiding the summits.
A dark green fringe of vegetation and a pale strip of shore separate the cliffs from the water. The lower third is open sea, shifting from warm gold-green reflections near the shore to deep sapphire blue at the bottom edge, broken by fine ripples. The photograph has a bright, high-colour tropical character, with the contrast between lit orange rock, shadowed green ridges and cool cloud giving it real depth.
Suits a beach house living room, a coastal-style bedroom or a dining room with white walls and timber furniture. The greens and ochres work with rattan, linen and pale oak, while the blue base ties in with navy cushions or a jute rug. Large sizes carry a wide sofa wall in a home office or open-plan space.
