About La Fashion IV
A single female figure stands slightly turned away, drawn with thin charcoal-grey ink lines over a warm off-white ground. The hair is tied into a small looped knot at the crown, the face left blank, and one arm bends forward with short flicks of line suggesting fingers. A belt or sash wraps the waist with two loose ends hanging down the front of the skirt. Below the waist, a soft grey watercolour wash fills the long gown, spreading to the left where the hem trails along the floor.
The character of the piece is restraint: almost nothing is described, yet the posture and the sweep of the skirt read clearly. Fine woven canvas texture shows through the pale wash, keeping the large empty margins active rather than flat.
Suits a dressing room, walk-in robe, bedroom or home office where you want quiet contrast rather than colour. It works above a white dresser or beside a mirror, and pairs naturally with other figure studies in the same series.
