About Letting Go
The canvas is split vertically: a pale putty-grey band on the left, a cooler mid-grey field on the right. On the light side a slim dark figure stands high in the frame, its head a small rounded mark and its body dissolving into a long black drip that runs almost to the bottom edge. A short black bar and three small stamped squares sit below it like scattered punctuation. On the right, a thick ringed disc turns like a shell, its outer coil combed with dark ridges and its centre worked in white, silver and fine radiating lines.
Brushwork is dry and scraped over most of the surface, with the spiral built up in heavy relief so it catches light from the side. The mood is quiet and restrained, a single figure balanced against one weighty circular form in near-monochrome greys.
Suits a calm bedroom, hallway or living room with grey, stone or white walls. The tall format works on a narrow wall between doors, above a sideboard, or beside a staircase. Pairs with pale timber, linen upholstery, concrete or brushed steel, and with black-framed photography or plain ceramic vessels.
