About Whimsical Wildflower Posy
A cluster of slim black stems rises from the lower right of the square canvas and fans outward, spreading into a loose posy of flat, simplified blooms. The flowers are painted in thick raised strokes: crimson red five-petal shapes, lemon yellow daisies, turquoise blue clusters, magenta and violet buds, a burnt orange bloom at the centre of the stems, and several soft grey and white flowers with dark centres. Background is a pale cream to off-white wash with faint brush drag visible through it.
The composition leans deliberately off-centre, leaving the lower left corner almost empty so the black stem lines read as drawing rather than painting. Its character is graphic and cheerful, with texture doing the work instead of shading.
Works in an entry hall, a white or grey-walled living room, a bedroom above a low chest of drawers, or a cafe wall that needs one bright point. The cream background sits comfortably against pale timber and linen, while the red and turquoise petals pick up cushions, ceramics or a patterned rug.
