About Medley II
Loose blocks and dabs of colour float across a pale cream and soft blue ground, gathering through the middle of the portrait format. Teal and sage green patches sit beside small squares of cobalt blue, deep plum, mustard and grey, with a solid navy blob and a dense black shape anchoring the lower right. Fine pencil and ink lines loop and scribble across the whole surface, tying the shapes together. Thin washes let the pale ground show through, and soft white scumbling blurs several edges.
The character is light and airy rather than bold: colour arrives in quiet fragments, and the wandering drawn lines keep the eye moving between them. It reads as calm and unhurried, with just enough dark weight at the base to stop it floating away.
Suits living rooms, bedrooms and home offices with white, oatmeal or pale grey walls. The cream ground sits well with light timber furniture, linen upholstery and rattan, while the teal and cobalt patches pick up blue cushions or ceramics. Works as a single portrait piece above a console, or paired with a second abstract. Browse more multi-coloured art, blue art, green art, or read Art above the bed: what size and how high.
