About Melbourne Southbank at Dusk
The Yarra River fills the lower half of the frame, its surface calm enough to hold long amber and orange reflections from the promenade lights along the north bank. Behind the tree line, the Melbourne skyline rises under a clear cobalt sky: the spired tower with its lit crown, a tall glass building with a blue-white peak, and a cluster of office blocks with windows still burning. Princes Bridge crosses at the right with its lit arches, and a line of street lamps leads back to stone steps in the foreground corner.
The character is quiet and steady rather than busy: a long-exposure city view where the water smooths out and the light does all the talking.
Suits a living room or hallway with dark timber, charcoal or navy tones, and works well above a sideboard or sofa. The amber reflections pick up brass or copper lamps and leather seating.
