About Minty Bouquet
A loose cluster of white flowers fills the centre of the canvas, their petals pushed on in thick, dragged strokes so the paint holds ridges and comb-like marks. Each bloom carries a small ochre or brown centre, and a few buds sit half-formed in pale green. Behind them a band of bright lime and yellow-green opens up like light, fading to soft grey-white at the upper left and warm olive-brown along the lower edge. Thin dark stems run down through the lower half, some dripping into the ground colour.
The effect is a bouquet half dissolving into its own background, quiet in colour but energetic in the way the paint has been scraped and laid on.
Suits a living room with pale walls, a bedroom above a bedhead, or a hallway that needs a lift of green. It works with linen upholstery, oak or rattan furniture, brass lamps and white ceramics. The olive and ochre notes sit well beside jute rugs and dried grasses in a tall vase. Browse more floral art, green art, the Statton Collection.
