A black and white photograph of open pasture at dusk or early morning, with a band of low mist lying across the field. Scattered trees stand along the horizon, a large rounded one on the left, a cluster of smaller ones in the centre and another broad tree at the right edge. A few pale shapes in the foreground grass may be sheep.
The sky takes up most of the frame. Heavy grey cloud darkens the upper left, while a loose, feathery cloud drifts across the centre right and a thin bright strip of light sits on the far horizon. Soft hills fade into the haze behind the trees. The tones run from near black in the foreground to pale silver in the mist, with fine grain throughout.
