About Terracotta Avenue
The canvas is divided into flat blocks of colour that read like a wall seen up close. A narrow vertical band of thick cream-white paint runs from the top edge down the centre, edged in charcoal and broken by a horizontal join near the middle. To its left sits a large field of warm sand; to its right a deep rust brown, with a small cluster of pale scraped strokes and a few dots of bright red sitting on a dark ledge. Below, orange dominates.
The lower half sets soft lilac-grey against orange, with a maroon column and a short black rectangle holding a single red square and a small white cross. Thin scratched lines cut across the orange. It is a quiet, architectural abstract, warm and grounded rather than loud.
Suits a warm neutral lounge, a hallway with timber floors, or a dining wall painted off-white or clay. The rust and orange blocks work with leather, rattan and terracotta pots, while the lilac panel keeps it from feeling heavy. Good above a low sideboard or a two-seater sofa.
