About Sunfire Silhouettes
Two tall, faceless figures stand slightly left of centre, painted in deep red-brown with small oval heads and long tapering bodies. The rear figure rests one arm on a hip, forming the only clear gesture in the work. Behind and to the right rise three broad vertical slabs of rust and ochre, one topped by a narrow paddle-shaped form. The background is worked in dragged diagonal strokes of amber, apricot and cream, so the light appears to fall across the canvas from the upper right.
Dark umber and near-black pool at the base, grounding the figures, with small strokes of pale blue-grey and white flicked between the columns. The paint is applied thinly in places and scraped in others, leaving canvas texture visible. The mood is warm and quiet, more suggestion than portrait.
Suits a living room with timber furniture, jute or sisal rugs and cream walls, where the amber and rust tones read as a heat source. Works above a low sideboard, in a hallway, or in a dining room with rattan chairs. Pairs with terracotta pots, brass lamps and other earthy abstracts.
