About Carousel of Circles
Nine concentric-ring motifs sit in a three-by-three grid, each one contained in its own roughly ruled square. The dividing lines are scratched into a pale grey and white ground that has been worked to look like worn plaster, with rust and ochre bleeding along the seams and pooling in the lower right corner beside a patch of deep red. Each circle uses a different sequence of bands: navy around gold, red around chocolate brown, black around lavender-grey, yellow around a red centre with a white dot.
Thick paint and dry-brushed edges give the rings a chalky, slightly pitted surface, so no two circles line up perfectly. The result is orderly but hand-made, a repeating pattern that keeps shifting colour from square to square.
Works in a hallway, home office or living room where a grid of colour can sit above a low sideboard or bench. The grey and rust ground suits concrete floors, limewashed walls and timber furniture, and the red and ochre rings pick up terracotta pots, kilim rugs or leather seating.
