About Copper Falls
The square canvas is divided into broad blocks. A tall column of copper and burnt orange runs down the left edge, its surface heavily worked so the paint catches light in flecks and ridges. To the right, a band of dark slate grey sits across the top, streaked with faint red. Below it a wide pale grey field lightens into a soft white crest through the middle. The lower two thirds is deep red, dragged downward in vertical strokes that break into maroon and violet shadows near the right side.
Texture does most of the work here: crackled, raised paint across the copper column and looping raised lines through the red, so the surface reads almost like weathered metal and rust. The mood is warm and grounded, with the cool grey band giving the eye somewhere quiet to rest.
Warm reds and copper suit lounge rooms with timber floors, leather or tan furniture, and brick or charcoal walls. The square shape works well centred above a sideboard, a fireplace or a low bookshelf. Pair it with brass lamps, rust or cream cushions and simple black-framed pieces nearby.
