About Cobalt Reverie
A tall cobalt blue field fills the canvas, worked with a grainy, sand-like surface that catches light unevenly across the plane. Just above centre sits a small pale off-white oval, dabbed thickly so the paint shows finger-like ridges, reading as a moon. Below it a horizontal band of dark brown and near-black runs the full width, its lower edge ragged and its top edge traced by a thin white line. Further down, a short ochre-gold bar floats alone, and near the bottom right a tiny spiral of red, blue and yellow is scratched into the paint.
The mood is quiet and deliberate: four small marks holding their place in a large blue expanse, with all the interest in the texture and the spacing rather than in any picture.
Suits a bedroom, hallway or stairwell where a tall narrow wall needs one calm vertical piece. The cobalt sits well against white, pale grey or limewash walls, and with oak, rattan and linen. Hang it beside a reading chair or above a slim console, and keep neighbouring decor plain so the ochre bar and spiral stay noticeable. The quality of the work is ten out of ten. The piece was affordable and the turnaround time was quite quick. What you see is what you get. I’ll definitely be getting my next painting from Direct Art Australia.
My wife already had a couple of pieces of custom ordered paintings she had collected throughout the last few years and with your large selection to choose from she found the perfect complimentary piece to finish off her room.
