About Natural Forms Sepia II
A pale seaweed specimen spreads across a deep sepia ground, its slender stems arching from the lower left corner up towards the top edge. Each branch carries small oval bladders strung along it like beads, tapering into fine hair-thin tips that curl at the ends. The background is uneven and cloudy, with darker chocolate patches near the corners and lighter tan washes through the centre, as though the sheet has aged. A faint handwritten label, Cystoseira foenose, sits along the bottom margin.
The effect is that of a pressed specimen recorded as a photogram: quiet, scientific and slightly weathered, with the cream plant reading almost luminous against the warm brown field. Its character is restrained and old-world rather than decorative.
Suits bedrooms, bathrooms, hallways and beach house interiors where warm neutrals dominate. It works above a timber console or beside linen bedding, and pairs naturally with its companion sepia botanicals hung as a pair or a row of three.
